On this Saturday afternoon, Racing Metro 92 lost in Clermont on the score of 47-14 in Day 12 of TOP 14. Ciel et Blanc seemed incapable of challenging this unbeaten team before showing a better face during the last twenty minutes, scoring two tries by the intermediate of Camille Gérondeau and Alexandre Dumoulin. There are some days with and other without, that is the way it goes sometimes. And today nothing seemed to go the right way for the Ciel et Blanc squad, as Racing Metro 92 records a heavy loss 47-14 without never being able to counteract their Yellow and Blue opponents, impressively effective, right from the beginning of the game. Straight away, Racingmen saw their enemy impose their rhythm. Beaten in every area of the game, Henry Chavancy’s team-mates saw Sivivatu, Cabello and King going all the way down to the scoring line, each before the break. A first half in which Racing is “totally out of their game” as deplored by Coach Laurent Travers. A remark completed by center Fabrice Estebanez who added at half-time: “ASM are above us, we will try to hang on. We didn’t show up much aggressiveness out there, it’s pretty much the rugby fundamental. We will, at least try to enjoy ourselves in second half”.
Unfortunately for Racing, Clermont carried on their good momentum straight back from the break, Buttin, Lacrampe and Malzieu each added five points to their side, while Brock James converted them all. A little annoyed, Racing woke up and managed, at last to convert their possession into scoring points thanks to Camille Gérondeau and Alexandre Dumoulin. But those two tries didn’t wear off the Racingmen’s frustration of leaving the Auvergne region with nothing to bring back, except for disappointment. As Coach Laurent Labit said: “We completely went past our match. In this sport, you must put the right ingredients and we didn’t put nothing into it”.
